MRAG Americas' Fishery Assessment Clients for
MSC Certification
Cornish Sardine Fishery
Stakeholder Consultation Notification
MRAG Americas, Inc. announces that the Cornish sardine fishery is moving into the next stage of certification, under the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) pilot program Guidance for Assessment of Small Scale and Data Deficient Fisheries (GASS-DD). The GASS-DD program will evaluate an experimental risk-based assessment methodology against the traditional methodology to determine if the experimental assessment yields comparable results. The assessment team will meet in Newlyn, Cornwall, UK on 26-27 June 2008 for a fishery assessment and stakeholder consultation to receive information from fishery representatives, government management agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other interested stakeholders.
MRAG invites stakeholders to provide any information considered relevant to the assessment of the fishery. MRAG will schedule meetings with stakeholders if requested. To schedule a meeting please provide:
- your name and contact details
- your association with the fishery
- the issues you would like to discuss
- where and when you would like to meet
We request that stakeholders provide written information or request a meeting by 18 June.
